The crowds were amazing, with cheers and shouts of 'dykes rule', 'we love you', they clapped and whistled, camera flashes were going off everywhere. I have never felt so proud of who and what I am. The feeling of support, love, acceptance was unbelievable. People leaned out of windows in hotels and offices, waving rainbow flags and banners of support. We waved and 'whooped' and often just screamed with delight. And the bikes ... wow, I'm hooked. It was amazing just riding into town but to also ride as part of a group that earlier had been laughing and joking, and to share this experience with them was wonderful. This was Sheila's first Pride on a bike, and the first time she had ever ridden with someone on the back, so we were both virgins all round!!! I didn't want it to end, right up to the very last minute there were people lining the route, even as made our way down the side streets to park. We all met up again, laughed and hugged and headed off to get lunch.
